Karen Woods
Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

To discover the questions and not invite shame.

Hello, I’m Karen.

Thank you for looking at my profile to see if I can support you.

I offer online and telephone counselling for individuals and couples, as well as walk-and-talk counselling in the High Peak. I also offer phone and online work.

My aim is to provide a safe, confidential environment to explore experiences that are often complex, sometimes confusing, and always personal.

Karen Woods MBACP, UKATA

Working together

A difficult event or multiple experiences of disconnect can feel overwhelming. This thing called life can be hard, troubling and lonely. We can become stuck, confused, or lost. We can have experienced loss.

Yet we know there is more, and there can be more.

Therapy can be a space to know and understand ourselves, to explore what we want and need in the context of our life, maybe to see things in a new light, or to help us come to terms with and cope with the things we cannot change. So we can all have a life worth living, whatever that means to us at each given moment.

Asking for support is the first step.

Some of the areas I can support with include:

  • Anxiety, panic attacks and depression

  • Bullying

  • Difficulties arising from childhood experiences

  • Loneliness or low self-esteem

  • Relationship issues (including family dynamics)

  • Self-harm

  • Setting boundaries

  • Work-related stress and identity

I also have particular experience with working with trauma: childhood abuse, domestic abuse, bereavement and loss, sudden and traumatic death, ageing and identity.
